1 person shot, officer injured in Fairfax County

The person who was shot has life-threatening injuries. The officer who was injured is expected to be OK.

RESTON, Va. — Authorities are investigating after a shooting involving a Fairfax County Police Department officer on Monday morning. Police are still investigating exactly what happened.

According to an initial report from the police department, officers were called to the 11800 block of Sunrise Valley Drive. It's not clear what officers were first responding to. Police say the person shot was taken to the hospital with life-threatening injuries. Police also say an officer was hospitalized, but their injuries are not thought to be life-threatening.

The circumstances surrounding the shooting have not yet been made public.
