The Commanders announced Monday that super fan Melba Jacobson had died.
WASHINGTON — A Washington Commanders super fan who just celebrated her 100th birthday at the team's training camp has passed away. The team announced Melba Jacobson's death on social media Monday.
Last month, Melba came out to training camp for a birthday celebration with the team that she has been dedicated to, and the team didn’t disappoint. They rolled out a big cake and a personalized “100” jersey in her honor.
"Passion and loyalty that were truly unmatched," The Commanders said on X, the social media platform formerly known as Twitter. "We are deeply saddened by the loss of superfan Melba Jacobson."

When we spoke to her at training camp, Melba had high hopes for the new Commanders team as they neared kickoff for the regular season.
“They’ve got good players, they’ve got good coaches, now just bring me a Super Bowl!”
