The finale of Seven is unforgettable, but if it wasn't for a script mix-up, it could have been completely different. While screenwriter Andrew Kevin Walker's initial script included the head-in-the-box scene, once it was optioned, the director on board requested many changes, including a completely different ending. 

Sometime later, after the project had lost momentum, David Fincher was sent the script, and he was very interested. Once he mentioned the graphic scene, the team realised he'd been sent the first draft, and gave him the updated one. He wanted nothing to do with that version and worked with Andrew to bring his original vision to life
