15 Twitter Reactions To “The Color Purple” Trailer That’ll Make A Whole New Generation Excited For The Classic Tale

If you didn’t know, Oprah, Steven Spielberg, and Quincy Jones are among the producers behind a film adaption of The Color Purple musical, which itself is based on Alice Walker’s 1982 novel and Spielberg’s 1985 film of the same name. (Spielberg and Jones were among the original film's producers, while Oprah scored an Oscar nomination for her portrayal of Sofia in the film.)

The new movie, which is set to be released on Dec. 25, is specifically an adaption of the Broadway musical which debuted in 2005 on Broadway and was revived in 2017.
