"In my opinion, this is one of those brilliant moments in film history that reveals that there are multiple angles to the story. Dorthy, an innocent girl didn't know she accidentally killed a witch. Glinda, a protector of sorts guiding Dorthy home, who sees the obsession of the two witches. And Elphaba, who is trying so desperately to save the environment, and now, her closest ally has been killed. So many things going on at once. Even still, Elphaba knew Dorthy was only going to be used at some point by evil forces. What she really wanted was to keep Dorthy from someone so very dangerous: the Wizard.
Glinda was also used by the Wizard and by the internal politics of Oz. We know Glinda and Elphaba used to be friends, and although Glinda had the ability, she would never pursue any means to stop Elphaba. She saw that the two wicked sisters had gotten caught up in their own cause' they had lost their humanity while trying so desperately to protect what they saw as a treasure: the innocent animals and environment of Oz. Glinda only wanted Dorthy safe, and so did Elphaba — but it was the Wizard who manipulated Dorthy to kill the witch.
The real villain was the Wizard, and Dorthy was an unwilling participant in the downfall of the protector of the animals and nature of the mysterious land of Oz. Now, the Wizard was free."
