The new arrests brings the group of accused killers up to five.
WASHINGTON — Two more teenagers have been arrested, accused of being part of a group young girls who reportedly beat a man to death late last year. Their arrests brings the group of accused killers up to five.
According to the Metropolitan Police Department (MPD), 64-year-old Reggie Brown was found dead along Georgia Avenue in Northwest D.C. on Oct. 17, 2023. The D.C. Office of the Chief Medical Examiner later determined he died of blunt force trauma and ruled his death a homicide.
Since his death, police have arrested several teenage girls in connection. WUSA9 will only be identifying the girls by their ages: two 13-year-old girls and a 12-year-old girl. All three of the suspects were arrested in March 2024 and charged with second-degree murder.
On Thursday, MPD announced the arrests of two more teenage girls they say are responsible for Brown's death. The latest girls accused of killing Brown have only been identified as another 13-year-old girl and a 15-year-old girl. Both girls were taken to the MPD homicide branch and charged with second-degree murder.
The original trial date for the first three suspects was delayed to August last month, despite one of the girls making it clear she wanted a trial as soon as possible.
Brown's death remains under investigation. Anyone with information may contact detectives at 202-727-9099 or text the department's tip line at 50411.
