"Oh my God, I forgot about that part."
Nine-Nine! I've been rewatching Brooklyn Nine-Nine on Peacock and forgot how funny the cold opens were. Here are the funniest and very best cold openings from Brooklyn Nine-Nine:
1. A police lineup harmonizes for the most popular Nine-Nine opening. ("DFW" Season 5, Episode 17)

Probably the cold opening that put Nine-Nine on the map for a lot of non-fans, and its dark ending is really the cherry on top.
3. Does Boyle have a yeast infection? ("The Overmining" Season 4, Episode 9)

Jake walks right into the most Boyle joke to ever joke. Boyle getting the best of Jake for once was hilarious, but the long pause between is even better.
"Like yeast!"
4. Jake isn't freaking out. ("Your Honor" Season 4, Episode 19)

A very relatable cold opening that really goes off the rails. Don't worry, Jake was faking the whole time because he's a great detective.
"We're gonna die in here!"
5. Boyle's oldest...bag? ("The Vulture" Season 1, Episode 5)

Everyone discusses their oldest arrest, but Boyle thinks they are talking about a different type of "bag." Not the funniest of Boyle's cold openings, but Andy Samberg breaking character and seeing his natural laugh made it one of the most memorable.
6. This Halloween gaslighting prank on Boyle is legendary. ("Halloween, Part III" Season 3, Episode 5)

Halloween and Nine-Nine go together like peanut butter and chocolate. Add pranking Boyle in the mix, and you get a quality cold opening.
7. Captain Holt has no pants on, and Jake is here to prove it. ("Beach House" Season 2, Episode 12)

This is an example of Detective Jake Peralta solving a case but failing to prove it by making the captain stand up. It's ridiculous and has the perfect, predictable payoff.
9. The football game against NYFD seems unfair. ("Operation Broken Feather" Season 1, Episode 15)

A fun first season cold opening that allows Terry to show off his ex-football skills. Nice to see the Nine-Nine bonding.
10. "Thanks, Dad" ("The Apartment" Season 1, Episode 18)

Jake accidentally calling Holt "Dad" might be one of the cast's funniest reactions. The wide shot of everyone staring at Jake after he says it is hilarious, and it's weird to see the Nine-Nine gang up on him for once.

13. How would Holt eat a marshmallow? ("Mr. Santiago" Season 4, Episode 7)

The delivery of "Marshed-mallow" kills me every time, but what comes after makes this cold opening an instant classic.

We never learn who wins the Thanksgiving "Boyle Bingo," but we're all winners for having him in Nine-Nine.

One of the longest, yet funniest cold openings. From Mamma Maglione to Rosa's girlfriend to Holt's meltdown, it's filled with laughs.

Anything involving Scully and Hitchcock always escalates to ridiculous heights, and I love that about them.
19. Amy's bomb gift. ("Yippie Kayak" Season 3, Episode 10)

I loved her confidence in the plan, but giving your police captain an unmarked package was probably the worst idea.
