Prince George's County Sheriff John Carr said he hoped the arrests would raise awareness for victims of domestic violence.
PRINCE GEORGE'S COUNTY, Md. — Seventy people were arrested in Prince George's County Thursday for crimes including child pornography, sex trafficking, rape second-degree and first-degree assault.
Prince George's County Sheriff John Carr said he hoped the arrests would raise awareness for victims of domestic violence.
"This operation takes place in October in recognition of Domestic Violence Awareness Month [and] focuses on apprehending individuals with outstanding felony and misdemeanor warrants related to a domestic violence case," Carr said.
Eighty-one warrants were closed in the course of the operation and PGCSO said they expect that number to climb.
"The Warrant/Fugitive Division is expecting additional wanted suspects to turn themselves in during the next few days, which will increase our warrant arrest and warrant closure numbers," Carr said.
