LARGO, Md. — A woman has died from her injuries days after a crash involving an on-duty police officer in Prince George's County. Investigators are still working to determine the cause of the crash.
According to police, the crash happened just before 11:30 a.m. on Sept. 9. Jeanette Benthal, 85, collided with the Prince George's County cruiser in the intersection of Campus Way South and Joyceton Drive in Largo. Both Benthall and the unidentified patrol officer were taken to the hospital for treatment of their injuries.
Benthall died from her injuries on Saturday. The officer has since been released from the hospital.
The circumstances surrounding the crash remain under investigation, police said. As part of their investigation, detectives are working to collect any video evidence, and talk to witnesses who may have seen something.
