90-year-old pedestrian hit and killed in Manassas

MANASSAS, Va. — Police are investigating a crash in Manassas that killed a 90-year-old man Monday afternoon. 

As investigators searched for answers Tuesday, police asked anyone who may have witnessed the crash to contact them.

Officers were called to the 10100 block of Lake Jackson Drive for a crash involving a pedestrian around 4 p.m. on Monday. The investigation revealed the driver of a 2021 Mercedes Benz Sprinter van was heading eastbound on Lake Jackson Drive, when the vehicle struck a 90-year-old man who was walking on the shoulder of the road.

There were no sidewalks on that portion Lake Jackson Drive. 

90-year-old Gary Paul Wilson of Manassas was taken to an area hospital, where he later died.

The van driver remained on scene, according to police. The driver, a 68-year-old man, was not hurt. 

Charges are pending as the investigation continues, police said.
