ADELPHI, Md. — A two-alarm fire in a high rise apartment building has been put out early Friday morning in Adelphi.
Prince George’s County Fire responded to a fire at 5:07 a.m. Friday at 1836 Metzerott Road. The fire was on the eighth floor of the building. The fire was out within the hour. Officials have not said how many firefighters responded or how the fire started.
Authorities have not said whether anyone is displaced because of the fire, but said the fire was contained to the apartment of origin.
Two people were taken to the hospital as a precaution, but no serious injuries were reported.
Officials have also not said whether the building had any sprinklers. Maryland passed a new law in May that requires all high-rise residential buildings to have smoke detectors, and if the building does not have an automatic sprinkler system, it must have signs warning residents.
