Arlington pizzeria to host blood drive amid 'critical shortage' of donor blood

ARLINGTON, Va. — An Arlington pizzeria is hosting a blood drive next week, with a special food discount offered to people who donate blood.

Fire Works Pizza is teaming up with INOVA Blood Donor Services to host a bloodmobile in Arlington on Monday, Aug. 19. The community blood drive is being held in collaboration with INOVA Blood Donor Services, and comes amid a nationwide shortage in donor blood.

The bloodmobile will be parked near Clarendon Boulevard and North Adams Street from 12:30 p.m. to 4:30 p.m. Patrons who donate blood will receive $5 off any menu item from Fire Works Pizza.

INOVA Blood Donor Services says donors are "desperately needed due to critical shortages of blood products for patients throughout Arlington County and surrounding communities in Northern Virginia."

Interested donors are required to bring a photo ID, and it is recommended to allow up to one hour to complete the donation visit. Appointments are recommended and can be booked here. For more details, please see the poster below:
