Arrest made in shooting near Nationals Park

Around 9:20 p.m. officers from the Metropolitan Police Department (MPD) responded to the 1200 block of Half Street, Southeast for reports of a shooting. Once on scene, they found a man in an alley with gunshot wounds. He was conscious and breathing. 

The man was taken to a nearby hospital for treatment of non-life-threatening injuries. 

By Sunday, MPD announced they had made an arrest in the case. Elonte Bookhardt,a 29-year-old from SE, was charged with assault with a dangerous weapon and destruction of property. 

However, a second suspect who police said they believe exchanged gunfire with the man shot is still being searched for. He can be seen in photos below. 

The shooting remains under investigation and anyone who has any information is asked to call 202-727-9099 or text the tipline at 50411.
