‘Beetlejuice Beetlejuice’ Bewitches Box Office, Scares Up Third Straight Win in U.K. and Ireland​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​

“Beetlejuice Beetlejuice” continues to dominate the U.K. and Ireland box office, maintaining its top position for the third consecutive week. The Warner Bros. sequel generated £2.4 million ($3.2 million) over the weekend, bringing its total to £18.2 million ($24.4 million), per numbers from Comscore.

Universal’s “Speak No Evil” held steady in second place, earning £813,890 in its sophomore frame for a cumulative £2.8 million. Mubi’s new release “The Substance” debuted in third with £591,247. Studiocanal’s “Lee” moved down to fourth place in its second week, adding £556,465 for a £1.8 million total.

There was a tie for the fifth spot. The 10th-anniversary re-release of Christopher Nolan’s “Interstellar” from Warner Bros. opened with £453,921, while Universal’s”Despicable Me 4″ continued its strong run, tying “Interstellar” with £453,921 for the weekend and pushing its 11-week total to £46.6 million.

Signature Entertainment’s “200% Wolf” debuted at seventh place with £237,037. Long-running hits “Deadpool & Wolverine” and “It Ends With Us” maintained their presence in the top 10, with respective totals of £57 million and £21.2 million after nine and seven weeks in the eighth and 10th spots. Lionsgate U.K.’s “The Critic” claimed the ninth spot, earning £208,153 in its second weekend for a total of £875,463.

Coming up, on Wednesday Sept. 25, Trafalgar is releasing “Edward Scissorhands: Matthew Bourne’s Dance Version Of Tim Burton’s Classic.” Also from Trafalgar, on Thursday Sept. 26, comes music film “Paul McCartney And Wings – One Hand Clapping” that transports audiences back to 1974.

On the Friday, Entertainment Film Distributors is releasing Francis Ford Coppola’s “Megalopolis” wide as is Vertigo with animation “Dragonkeeper.” Curzon is opening Sundance-debuting comedy “My Old Ass” and Lionsgate Halle Berry-starring horror-thriller “Never Let Go.”

From Icon comes “Hellboy: The Crooked Man,” the fourth instalment of the supernatural horror franchise and from Studiocanal acclaimed drama “The Outrun,” starring Saoirse Ronan. Signature is opening a double bill of “Terrifier” and “Terrifier 2” and Trinity anime “Detective Conan: The Million-dollar Pentagram.”

From India, Dreamz Entertainment is bowing Tamil-language action comedy “Petta Rap” and Telugu-language action drama “Devara Part 1,” headlined by “RRR” star NTR Jr.

Among re-releases, Universal and Park Circus are opening “Shaun Of The Dead” and “Mean Girls” respectively on the occasion of their 20th anniversaries.
