“Blink Twice” Has A Beyoncé Song In An Iconic Scene – Here’s How Zoë Kravitz Got Approval From Queen B

You may have seen trailers for Blink Twice, Zoë Kravitz’s directorial debut.

 "Are you having a good time?" and "Only in cinemas 23 August."

The film stars Channing Tatum, Naomi Ackie, and Adria Arjona.

The thriller follows cocktail waitress Frida, who winds up on a luxurious private island after meeting a tech billionaire at his fundraising gala.

But all is not as it seems.

Now, without giving any spoilers away, one of the most climactic moments of the movie features the iconic song “I’m That Girl” by the one and only Queen Bey.

If you know anything about Beyoncé, she doesn’t give permission for people to use her songs lightly, so we had to ask Zoë how she managed to get it in there.

Zoë explained that when the cast were filming that scene, she was playing music on set because she wanted the girls to “feel as badass as possible.” Naturally, Naomi Ackie and Adria Arjona requested Beyoncé.

They were like, “Play Beyoncé!” And Zoë was like, “We can’t afford it!” She joked.

So she played the song during the filming, but when it came to the edit, she put the song in and quickly realised that nothing else would beat it.

Zoë sent it to Beyoncé’s team, saying, “I have to at least try – it won’t happen, but I’ll try. And she said yes, I still can’t believe it.”
