‘Bosch: Legacy’ to End With Season 3 at Amazon Freevee, Prime Video

Bosch: Legacy” will end with its upcoming third season at Amazon Freevee and Prime Video.

Season 3 of the series is scheduled to debut in March 2025. Michael Connelly, whose Harry Bosch novels serve as the basis for the series, made the announcement on Friday via Instagram.

“It’s been an amazing run with this character so far,” Connelly wrote. “There’s that over-used phrase ‘It takes a village,’ so I’ll just say, it takes at least a whole town to make a show like this. We’ve had the best people up and down the call sheet. Actors, writers, directors, producers, and all the crew tried to make something special, and they certainly did. I’m very proud of what we did.”

Connelly went on to praise series lead Titus Welliver, who first began playing detective Harry Bosch on the original series in 2014. “He became the full embodiment of Harry Bosch and that was the magic that fueled 10 seasons. As the guy who writes the books, I can’t tell you how lucky I got when he signed on.”

Connelly’s full post can be seen below.

Thus ends the longest-running scripted series Amazon has had to date. “Bosch” became the unsung hero of the e-commerce giant’s streaming ambitions, running for seven seasons before “Bosch: Legacy” debuted in 2022. The original show aired on Prime Video while “Legacy” had aired on Freevee thus far, but the latter show will get a sendoff on both platforms with Season 3.

“Bosch: Legacy” is produced by Fabel Entertainment. The series is executive produced by Connelly, Eric Overmyer, Tom Bernardo, Henrik Bastin, Pieter Jan Brugge, and Welliver.

The Bosch-verse will not end here, however. Amazon has already greenlit a spinoff series that will focus on cold case detective Renee Ballard, another character from Connelly’s novels. Maggie Q will star as Ballard.
