WASHINGTON — Dogs in the District will have their chance to break out bling collars and bow ties for their very own ball next month. And no, it's not the kind of ball they'd fetch.

The Humane Rescue Alliance (HRA) plans to hosts its 37th Annual Bark Ball on Oct. 5 to raise funds and celebrate our furry friends and the people who love them. HRA says it's the only black-tie gala in D.C. that allows attendees to bring their dogs.

Tricks, treats and tail wags won't be the only highlight of the evening. The event will include music by The Georgetown Saxatones, an artist performing speed painting onstage, a live auction, photo booths, caricature artists, a treat bar for the pups, and signature cocktails for their paw-rents.

TV host Stacey Rusch, a new cast member of "The Real Housewives of Potomac," will emcee the evening and former North Carolina Sen. Elizabeth Dole — a longtime HRA supporter — will be in attendance as well.

The event will be held from 5:30 to 10 p.m. that Saturday at the Washington Hilton on Connecticut Avenue Northwest. Ticket prices begin at $250 for young professionals and $500 for other individuals. A table of eight could be yours for $4000. Ticket sales end on Sept. 30, and can be found here.
