ARLINGTON, Va. — A car caught on fire after it crashed into a hair salon in Arlington Saturday afternoon, leaving the driver seriously injured.

Arlington Fire and Ems Units responded to the crash in the 400 block of 12th St South. They arrived to find a Tesla had driven into the building, crashing into Posh Salon while patrons were inside. While none of them were injured, the driver of the Tesla was taken to a local hospital with serious injuries.

"I thought I died," Posh Salon owner Maha Hamden told WUSA9. "I literally thought, like, there was a bomb and the building exploded and that was the last of it."

Hamden said she was doing a client's hair, and had another client sitting in the chair next to her at the time of the crash.

"And all of a sudden you hear like a boom. It sounded like an explosion. I thought the building was going to explode," Hamden recalled. "We all kind of flew, glasses flying everywhere. Smoke, gas ... come to find out there was a car that flew into the salon."

The salon owner says it's not the first time a vehicle crashed into the building, and that a Metro Bus also crashed into her salon two years ago.

The building is now closed pending a structural inspection. The immediate cause of the crash and details regarding the identity of the driver have not been made public as of publishing.
