Carjacker drives away with victim's cat in the car, DC Police say

The victim's 10-year-old cat was inside the vehicle in a red and cream-colored crate, when it was stolen.

WASHINGTON — Police are searching for a car that was reportedly stolen at gunpoint with the victim's 10-year-old cat inside.

According to the Metropolitan Police Department, officers were called to the 700 block of 7th St. Southeast Monday evening.

When officers arrived, they learned that just after 6 p.m. the suspects walked up to the victim and demanded their car keys at gunpoint. The victim handed over the keys and the suspects drove away in the victim's 2020 red Toyota Highlander. 

The victim's 10-year-old cat was inside the vehicle in a red and cream-colored crate, when it was stolen.

The cat, who answers to “Milly” or “Mini," is a domestic medium-haired cat, who is black and white in color.

We're seeking info pertaining to an Armed Carjacking (Gun) that occurred on 4/17/23 in the 700 block of 7th Street, SE. Additionally, a cat, who answers to "Milly" or "Mini," was taken in this case.

The stolen vehicle is still missing. The 2020 red Toyota Highlander has Virginia tag UCZ6685. 

The suspects arrived in a 2016 silver Hyundai Sonata with Maryland tag 4EW6094 when the victim was carjacked.

Police say the two teens got into the car but realized they could not drive away after noticing the car had a manual transmission.
