WASHINGTON — A 7-Eleven employee has been taken to a hospital after being stabbed on the job in northwest D.C.

Metropolitan Police Department (MPD) officers were called to the scene in the 5400 block of Connecticut Avenue after receiving a report of the stabbing shortly before 5 a.m., police said. The adult male employee was taken to a local hospital where he is expected to recover, according to police

According to a watch commander for MPD's Second District, the preliminary investigation indicates the stabbing occurred during an altercation between the employee and a young male suspect who was asked to leave the store.

The suspect is described as a young male, approximately 16 to 20 years of age, wearing a black shirt, hoodie and pants.  He was last seen heading westbound on K Street, Northwest, police said.

So far the investigation is not causing any traffic closures since the scene is contained inside the store.

No arrests have been made and the investigation is ongoing. Anyone with information about this case is asked to call police at 202-727-9099 or text the department's tip line at 50411.
