Comedy Central’s ‘Everybody Still Hates Chris’ Series Gets September Premiere Date (TV News Roundup)

Comedy Central has revealed the premiere date of its adult animated series “Everybody Still Hates Chris.”  The series, starring and executive produced by Chris Rock, will premiere Wednesday, Sept. 25 at 10 p.m. ET.

“Everybody Still Hates Chris” is a reimagined look at Rock’s autobiographical, critically-acclaimed family series which ran for four seasons on UPN (and later, The CW) from 2005 – 2009.

The cast includes original “Everybody Hates Chris” stars Terry Crews and Tichina Arnold alongside Tim Johnson Jr. (“Fright Krewe”), Ozioma Akagha (“Delilah”), Terrence Little Gardenhigh (“Danger Force”) and Gunnar Sizemore (“Kung Fu Panda: The Paws of Destiny”).

The show will feature “Chris Rock (‘Rustin,’ ‘Fargo’) as ‘Adult Chris,’ narrating stories inspired by his experience growing up as a skinny nerd in a large working-class family in Bed-Stuy, Brooklyn, during the late 1980s.”

“Everybody Still Hates Chris” is produced by CBS Studios and Rock’s banner, Chris Rock Enterprises, in association with 3 Arts Entertainment. Showrunner Sanjay Shah (“Central Park”); Ali LeRoi; and Michael Rotenberg and Dave Becky of 3 Arts Entertainment will executive produce alongside Rock.

Titmouse (“Big Mouth”) will serve as the animation studio for the series with Chris Prynoski, Shannon Prynoski, Antonio Canobbio and Ben Kalina also serving as executive producers.

PROGRAMMING

Season 6 of “The Kelly Clarkson Show” will kick off Sept. 23 with a rooftop party at 30 Rock studios in New York. The opening celebration will feature a “Kellyoke” performance from Clarkson accompanied by her host band My Band Y’All.

Guests for the new season include Kristen Bell, Halle Berry, Adam Brody, Michael Bublé, Jim Carrey, Colin Farrell, Jelly Roll, Anna Kendrick, Adam Lambert, Miranda Lambert, Trevor Noah, Teddy Swims, Uma Thurman, Keith Urban, Ali Wong, Kate Winslet, Questlove and Zachary Quinto.

Clarkson serves as executive producer with showrunner Alex Duda.

Black culture and entertainment network TV One has unveiled its new true-crime docuseries “Celebrity Crime Files,” which debuts Aug. 28. Narrated by actor Blair Underwood (“Longlegs”), the series investigates the lives of Black celebrities who have been implicated in crime, either as victims or potential perpetrators.

Some of the subjects explored throughout Season 1 include Megan Thee Stallion and Tory Lanez’s assault trial, the overseas arrest of WNBA player Brittney Griner and the shooting of legendary Los Angeles rapper Tupac Shakur.
