Crews battle 8-alarm brush fire in Baltimore Co.

Nearly 30 homes have been evacuated as crews continue to fight the flames.

BALTIMORE COUNTY, Md. — Crews are working to get a large brush fire under control in Baltimore County Tuesday afternoon.

According to a spokesperson with the Baltimore County Fire Department (BCFD), the 8-alarm brush fire is around 40% contained as of 6 p.m.

Nearly 30 homes have been evacuated as crews continue to fight the flames.

More than 200 firefighters from across the region are working to contain the brush fire. 

People are asked to avoid the 5100 block of Deer Park Road in the Soldiers Delight area as the fire continues to "spread rapidly," according to BCFD.

Officials have not released any information regarding what may have caused the fire to spark nor how many acres have burned.

Fire officials were called to a brush fire in the 3100 block of Mill Branch Road in Bowie, Md. around 6:15 a.m. that morning. After the fire was extinguished, firefighters located the remains of a burned body. The victim suffered from severe burns to her body.
