Chuck Brown Day was created 10 years ago to celebrate 'The Godfather of Go-Go' and all he contributed to the rich history of D.C.'s original musical history.
WASHINGTON — The nation's largest festival of Go-Go is celebrating 10 years this weekend at Fort Dupont Park at 3600 F Street, SE.
Chuck Brown Day was created 10 years ago to celebrate The Godfather of Go-Go and all he contributed to the rich history of D.C.'s original musical history. Legends of Go-Go is a musical festival held in Southeast every year.
This year the festival is on August 17 from 1 p.m. to 7 p.m. and is open to all ages. Relatives of Chuck Brown are expected to attend. The foundation named in honor of Brown will host their annual "Back to School Giveaway" starting promptly at 1 p.m.
The event will have a kid's fun zone, vendors, food trucks, and good ole' live bounce beats from

- DC Vybe Band
- Takeova Band
- DJ Quicksilva
- DJ Kool
- DJ Flexx
- Poet
- The Go-Go Museum
While this event is at a park, there are some items not permitted within the festival grounds:
- Do not bring alcohol.
- Do not bring glass containers.
- Do not bring illegal substances.
- Do not bring weapons.
- No Umbrellas
- No Tents
- No Grilling
- Open Flames are prohibited
- No Drones
Participants are allowed to bring:
- Lawn Chairs
- Blankets
- Non-alcoholic beverages
- Snacks
For those taking Metro, the nearest station to the park is Minnesota Avenue. Free shuttle buses will be provided to and from the festival, just follow the Chuck Brown Day signs.
