WASHINGTON — Ward 8 councilmember Trayon White has been arrested and taken into federal custody Sunday afternoon.

Very little details have been released at this time, so we sent a crew to gather more information.

Here's what we do know, Sunday afternoon multiple reports came out that White had been arrested in Southeast, D.C. We sent our crew to 1000 South Capitol, when they arrived they spoke with residents of the 10K Hill South apartment building who say the FBI raided the building.

Shortly after the raid, residents received an email from the building management that read:

"Dear Resident,

We wanted to inform you about a recent police presence at 10K Hill South. Please

be assured that this was a localized procedure and does not pose any risk to our

community. If you have any questions or need assistance, our team is available at the front

desk to help with anything you may need. Thank you for your attention, and we appreciate your cooperation.

10K Hill South Management"

Allegedly, agents with the FBI arrested the councilman in one of the penthouse units. The charges pending against White have not been released at this time.

We reached out to the FBI DC Field Office for more information, they declined to comment at this time.

WUSA9 also spoke with Chairman Phil Mendelson's Director of Communications, Lindsey Walton for more information who told us they are aware of the arrest. However, Chairman Mendelson was not aware of an investigation into Councilmember White.

Mendelson's office is also in the dark about the charges pending towards White. The other ward councilmembers have been made aware of White's arrest.

It is unclear what will happen next, but we will keep you updated as more information is released.
