WASHINGTON — A D.C. man is in custody for a string of armed robberies targeting construction workers in Northeast. Police arrested 20-year-old Tristian Wilson on Monday. He was charged with three counts of robbery.

The first robbery happened on Sept. 13. According to police, at around 1:15 p.m. that day, a worker saw Wilson rummaging through a coworkers car in the 300 block of 58th Street, Northeast. Wilson then approached the worker and pointed a gun at him, taking his property. He took the property and ran off. Police did not say what property was taken.

Then, on Wednesday just before noon, three workers were eating lunch on a sidewalk in the same area when Wilson pulled a gun and demanded the trio's property. The workers handed over their stuff, and Wilson took off again.

The next day, around 10:30 a.m., officers were flagged down by workers who said they had just been robbed in the 400 block of 59th Place, Northeast. The workers reported Wilson approached a group of five workers who were doing landscaping work outside a home. Wilson again pointed a gun and took property from the workers before running off. Responding officers found him a short time later and took him into custody, according to police.

According to D.C.'s crime stats, robberies are down in the District compared to this time last year. DC Police reported 2,692 at this point in 2023. So far in 2024, there have been 1,636. That's a 39% decrease.
