Detectives are still working to learn who is responsible for Jordan Ballard's death.
WASHINGTON — Police in D.C. have launched a homicide investigation four days after a child was found unconscious in a Southeast home.
Metropolitan Police Department officers were first called to a home in the 1800 block of 18th Street in Southeast for a report of an unconscious child around 11:30 p.m. That's not far from the Anacostia Neighborhood Library. The 1-year-old child was taken to an area hospital for treatment, where he was admitted in critical condition.
The next day, a medical examiner's report found that the boy had suffered multiple blunt force injuries, and his death was ruled a homicide. Police identified the child as Jordan Ballard.
Detectives are still working to figure out what led to Jordan's death. So far, no arrests have been made in this case. Police are asking anyone who may have information to contact them at 202-727-9099 or text the department's tip line at 50411.
The police department is offering a reward of up to $25,000 to anyone who provides information that leads to an arrest and conviction in this case. Tips should reference case number 24129464.
