Charles Mitchell-Baynes, had $3,800 worth of Lululemon athletic wear in the car and illegal substances.
Officers patrolling the area of 12th Street, Northeast on Saturday noticed a car committing a traffic violation. Police conducted a traffic stop and searched the car.
The driver of the car, Charles Mitchell-Baynes, had $3,800 worth of Lululemon athletic wear in the car and illegal substances. Mitchell-Baynes was arrested and charged with felony receiving stolen property and possession with intent to distribute marijuana.
Previously, officers had arrested Avante Demarco Greene in connection to the retail thefts during a traffic stop. Police said early Friday morning they were patrolling in Northwest near the Columbia Heights, Adams Morgan, Mt. Pleasant, Logan Circle neighborhoods when they saw Greene's vehicle.
Police say the vehicle matched the description of the one used in numerous retail theft cases. When officers pulled Greene over, they recognized him from the suspect picture issued in connection to the thefts at Lululemon.
According to police two men went into the Lululemon store located along F Street and stole more than $11,000 worth goods. This comes seven months after the Lululemon in Navy Yard closed their doors permanently following an armed robbery. Police the robbers in that case made off with money from the register and at least $6,000 worth of goods.
Greene was arrested and charged with three counts of theft one, in relation to the following thefts:
- July 10 in the 1000 block of F Street, Northwest
- July 12 in the 3200 block of M Street, Northwest
- July 16 in the 1000 block of F Street, Northwest
