"A black sedan traveling eastbound in the 800 block of Florida Avenue Northwest," was the only description MPD gave on Thursday of the car that killed Anderson.

WASHINGTON — MPD are investigating a hit and run that killed a woman in a wheelchair Northwest D.C. 

Brianna Anderson, 40, was trying to cross an intersection on Sunday in her wheelchair at 8th Street and Florida Avenue Northwest when she was hit, according to MPD. The person who hit Anderson, then drove off, leaving the disabled woman seriously hurt in the street.

EMS brought Anderson to the hospital where she died that day. 

The crash happened early morning on Sunday at around 5:45. 

"A black sedan traveling eastbound in the 800 block of Florida Avenue Northwest," was the only description MPD gave on Thursday of the car that killed Anderson. 

Crashing into a person with a car then leaving that person to die or suffer from serious injuries is a problem all too common across Washington, D.C. 

On Wednesday police announced another ongoing hit and run investigation in Southeast DC, where a car "critically injured" a person on the 2800 block of Minnesota Avenue and then drove off. That crash happened on early morning Nov. 7, but police found nearby surveillance footage that shows the car that drove off.
