Double shooting turned barricade in Southeast, police investigate

Both men were taken to a local hospital conscious and breathing. Their current condition and identities are unknown at this time.

WASHINGTON — Police are investigating a barricade situation in Southeast, D.C.

The barricade began as a double shooting along the 500 block of Newcomb Street Thursday night. Police arrived around 9 p.m. where they found two men suffering from gunshot wounds. 

Both men were taken to a local hospital conscious and breathing. Their current condition and identities are unknown at this time. 

An hour after officers got to the scene MPD's Emergency Response Team was dispatched for a barricade. It is unknown if the suspect wanted for the shooting is the one barricaded inside of the home. 

Police have placed road closures along: 

- Newcomb Street, SE, between 4th Street and Malcolm X Avenue
- Malcolm X Avenue, SE, between Oakwood and Newcomb Streets

Information on what lead up to the shooting has not been released at this time. This investigation is active and ongoing. We will update you when more information becomes available.
