VIRGINIA, USA — Elections were held in all of Virginia's 11 U.S. House seats on Tuesday, as well as one U.S. Senate seat. Virginia voters also decided on whether to revise qualifications to receive veterans' survivor benefits.
In District 8, which covers parts of Alexandria, Falls Church and Arlington, Democratic Rep. Don Beyer was the projected winner. Beyer has held this office since 2015, he defeated Republican Jerry Torres, according to the Associated Press.
Virginia voters also passed Virginia Question 1, which revises qualifications to receive veterans' survivor benefits. Benefits would now extend to veterans' who died in the line of duty, instead of only those who were killed in action.
