Emma Stone will be coming to life as Bella Baxter in Poor Things, a re-imagining of Frankenstein from director Yorgos Lanthimos, who brought us Academy Award-nominated films like The Favourite and The Lobster — and we've finally gotten a first look at the film with a wild new trailer for which Searchlight Pictures has just released a new trailer.

The film stars Stone alongside Willem Dafoe as the mad scientist who brings her to life, and Mark Ruffalo as a sly and handsome lawyer. (Who could resist that mustache?)

The trailer is absolutely surreal, and focuses on Bella's rebirth and desire to live a free life, as well as her whirlwind affair with Ruffalo's character, Duncan Wedderburn.

The film is based off the 1992 novel of the same name, a sort of postmodern Frankenstein that combines hilarious comedy and political satire to tell the story of Bella, a drowned woman whose body is resuscitated by Doctor Godwin Baxter.

Poor Things is also set to feature actors Margaret Qualley, Ramy Youssef, Jerrod Carmichael, and Christopher Abbott.

I don't know if you all saw The Favourite, but I for one cannot get over my excitement for Emma in a new Lanthimos film!

Poor Things is expected to premiere this year at the Venice Film Festival, which will take place in August, and will be in theaters Sept. 8.
