WASHINGTON — The FBI is seeking information about the identity of a person related to a child exploitation case.

In a press release, federal authorities said the man may have critical information about the child's identity. The man is known as John Doe 48, referring to the generic name used in the law enforcement and medical fields for somebody whose identity is unknown.

John Doe 48 was seen in a video obtained by the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children in December 2023, with metadata included in the video indicating it was produced sometime in October of that year.

The man is described as a white man between the ages of 45 and 65, with dark hair and a gray beard. He is seen with a tattoo on each of his forearms, although details about the tattoos were not released by the FBI.

He was seen in the back of a 2018 or 2019 Nissan NV cargo van, and can be heard in the video speaking English.

Anybody with information about the man is being asked by the FBI to call their tip line at 1-800-225-5324.

The FBI is searching for the man as part of its Operation Rescue Me program, which uses clues obtained through analysis of images and video to identify the victims and perpetrators of child exploitation material.
