HAYMARKET, Va. — Firefighters are on scene of a house explosion in Haymarket Tuesday evening.
According to the Loudoun Career Fire Fighters Association, the gas-related house explosion occurred in the 5900 block of Colby Hunt Court.
The Prince William County Fire Department says reports of a gas leak in the area came in just after 4:15 p.m. A short time later, crews called for a second-alarm fire.
At 5:36 p.m. fire units were on the scene when the home exploded. That same unit evacuated the home earlier.
Officials say, an underground contractor struck a natural gas line while working. No injuries have been reported at this time.
Units on the scene are still working to extinguish the fire. The gas company is also on the scene to secure the leak.
At this time there is no further danger to the community.
WUSA9 is on the way to the area to find out more information.
In February, 12 people were injured and one firefighter was killed when a home exploded in Sterling, Virginia. The explosion happened after a 500-gallon underground propane tank was leaking. Firefighter Trevor Brown, 45, was killed in the explosion.
