Five teenagers arrested for carjacking in Northwest DC

One of the suspects was as young as 14 years old.

WASHINGTON — Five teens were arrested for carjacking on Friday, with one being as young as 14 years old.

At 9:05 p.m. Friday night, the five teenagers approached two people who had just got out their car on P Street in Northwest D.C. The teenagers attacked the two people and took a phone and the car keys. The teenagers then fled in the victims’ car. The two people sustained minor injuries and were treated by D.C.’s Fire Department and Emergency Medical Service.

The Metropolitan Police Department’s Real Time Crime Center and the Air Support Unit, also known as Falcon, tracked and located the stolen car. Officers then arrested the five teenagers and returned the car, phone and keys.

The group of suspects consisted of a 17-year-old girl from Northeast D.C., a 17-year-old boy from Southeast D.C., a 17-year-old boy from Hyattsville, Maryland, a 16-year-old boy from Southeast D.C. and a 14-year-old boy from Southeast D.C. All five were charged with unarmed carjacking, robbery, unauthorized use of a vehicle-crime of violence and receiving stolen property.
