WASHINGTON — Four people are in custody after they walked past the crime scene while officers were investigating the robbery they are accused of committing.
Officers were flagged down on Tuesday at 12:30 a.m. by the victim who said he had been robbed along U Street, Northwest. The victim told police he was jumped by four people. The group then stole his stuff before running away.
The victim gave police a detailed description of the robbers. While police were on the scene investigating the incident, the people accused of robbing the victim tried to walk past officers.
Officers say they recognized the group and stopped them. A search was conducted and police reportedly found the victim's stuff in the suspects' possession. The suspects include two teens, one 14-year-old and a 15-year-old. Additionally, 33-year-old Rynell Kaven Epps and 21-year-old Ira Shaw-Bates were arrested and charged with Robbery (Force and Violence).
