WASHINGTON — Are you ready to open up your heart and home to a fur-ever friend? If so, the Humane Rescue Alliance (HRA) might have the perfect deal for you.
The D.C. rescue announced Friday morning that they are at capacity and they need to find homes for their adoptable dogs.
"We have a FULL HOUSE of dogs waiting to be loved," the rescue organization wrote in a Facebook post. "Can you make room in yours?"
HRA says their shelters are overflowing with 305 dogs currently under their care and only 103 permanent dog kennels. In May, they took in 337 dogs, but less than half of that number was adopted -- 123 adoptions to be exact.
Now to help the overflow, HRA is hosting a "Full House" adoption event with waived fees for all dogs. It will take place from Friday through June 30.
The dogs can be adopted from their 71 Oglethorpe Street Northwest and 1201 New York Avenue Northeast adoption centers.
