Here's What The Original "Twister" Cast Looks Like, Then And Now

It all started back in 1996.

But it all started back in 1996 with its predecessor, Twister.

Here's a look at what the cast members have been up to since Twister came out in theaters:

Two years later, in 1998, she won an Oscar for her leading performance in As Good As It Gets. Since then, she has been in over 100 TV shows and movies, including Cast Away, The Sessions, and Hacks. She has also directed shows like This Is Us and Mad About You.

2. Here's Bill Paxton, who played Bill Harding:

And here's Bill Paxton before he passed away in 2017:

Following Twisters, Paxton continued to have a successful career, starring in Titanic, Frailty, and HBO's Big Love, for which he received an Emmy nomination. Sadly, in 2017 at the age of 61, he passed away from complications from open-heart surgery.

Gertz, who was previously known for her roles in Sixteen Candles and The Lost Boys, went on to star in Still Standing and appear on ER, Entourage, and This Is Us. She was also nominated for Outstanding Guest Actress in a Comedy Series for her role on Ally McBeal.

4. Here's Cary Elwes, who played Dr. Jonas Miller:

Known for The Princess Bride, Elwes has since starred in everything from the Saw series to Stranger Things to Ella Enchanted. Back in 2020, he entered a political feud with Princess Bride superfan...Ted Cruz.

Smith, who had previously starred in Fatal Attraction and Fried Green Tomatoes, went on to act in Minority Report, True Blood, and more. In 2017, she was nominated for a SAG award for her performance in Lady Bird.

6. Philip Seymour Hoffman, who played Dusty Davis:

And here's Philip Seymour Hoffman before he passed away in 2014:

In 1996, Hoffman's career was just getting started! He went on to star in The Big Lebowski, Almost Famous, Cold Mountain, The Master, and Doubt, and in 2006 he won the Oscar for Best Performance by an Actor in a Leading Role. Sadly, in 2014, the actor passed away from a drug overdose at the age of 46.

7. Here's Alan Ruck, who played Robert "Rabbit" Nurick:

You probably know Ruck from Ferris Bueler's Day Off or his most recent TV show, Succession, but he's also starred in everything from Spin City to Greek to Sierra Burgess is a Loser.

Right after Twister, Davies went on to star in Saving Private Ryan. In 2012, after starring on Lost for three years, Davies won an Emmy Award for Outstanding Guest Actor in a Drama Series for his portrayal of Dickie Bennett on Justified.

Let's just say that, with six Oscar nominations, Field has certainly had a successful career! However, he has actually found most of his success as a director for films such as Tár and Little Children.  

11. And finally, here's Alexa PenaVega, who played young Jo Harding:

After appearing in Twister as a young Helen Hunt, PenaVega went on to star in the Spy Kids series as Carmen Cortez. More recently, in 2015, she appeared in 7 episodes of Nashville.
