The Olympics are coming back to the United States soon.

PARIS, France — The Paris Games are coming to an end with an elaborate Closing Ceremony at the Stade de France.

As the Summer Olympics bid goodbye to the French capital, fans are already looking to at the next four years ahead.

The 2028 Summer Olympics will be especially exciting for American fans as the Games come back to the United States for the first time in decades, after Salt Lake City hosted the Winter Olympics in 2002.

Where are the 2028 Summer Olympics?

Los Angeles is hosting the Olympics for the third time, with previous stints in 1932 and 1984.

Events will take place within city limits and around the Los Angeles area, with official venues already announced in nearby Carson and Long Beach.

The Los Angeles Olympics will be held from July 14-30, 2028.

Brisbane, Australia, will host the 2032 Summer Olympics.

Where are the upcoming Winter Olympics?

The 2026 Winter Olympics will stay in Europe as Italy takes the hosting reins for the Milano-Cortina Games.

France has conditional approval to host the 2030 Winter Olympics, with its bid centered on ski resorts in the French Alps and coastal city Nice. Full approval couldn't be immediately granted since parliamentary elections this month left France with only a caretaker national government.

Salt Lake City was confirmed as the preferred and only candidate for the 2034 Winter Games, bringing the Winter Games back to Utah 32 years after hosting in 2002.

When did the Olympics move to every two years?

From 1924 through 1992, the Winter and Summer Olympics were both held in the same year, every four years.

In 1994, the Winter and Summer games split and the Olympics were held every two years instead, beginning with the 1994 Winter Olympics in Lillehammer, Norway, followed by the Summer Games in 1996 in Atlanta.
