Kamala Harris is set to receive the official presidential nomination this week at the Democratic National Convention, which will take place from Aug. 19-22 in Chicago, Illinois. The event will be held at the United Center and will gather the Democratic Party delegates and leaders to officially nominate Harris, in addition to Minnesota Governor Tim Walz for Vice President.

The convention is gearing up to be a star-studded affair, with Kerry Washington, Mindy Kaling, Ana Navarro and Tony Goldwyn serving as hosts. Each host will serve as the master of ceremonies for one of the four nights of the convention, opening the evening with remarks and reappearing periodically to help guide the event along. Meanwhile, Julia Louis-Dreyfus will host a daytime panel on the third day of the convention highlighting U.S. women governors.

The DNC will broadcast live across ABC, CNN, CBS News, CSPAN, Fox News, MSNBC, NBC News, Newsnation and PBS, among other channels. However, the best way for cable-cutters to tune into the events is through a live TV streamer such as DirecTV, Sling TV, Fubo TV and Hulu + Live TV, which all currently offer free trials.

Select coverage will also be available to stream on Peacock (NBC coverage) and Max (CNN coverage).

The main programming at the 2024 Democratic National Convention will take place each evening from around 6:15 p.m. ET to 11 p.m. ET. Mornings typically begin with delegate breakfasts that start as early as 7:00 a.m. ET, followed by various meetings and events throughout the day before the main primetime sessions begin.

Like years past, there is also expected to be an impressive lineup of musical performances at this year’s DNC. So far, confirmed performers include John Legend, Billie Eilish and Jennifer Hudson, with more bold-faced names likely to make surprise appearances throughout the week and officially endorse the Harris-Walz ticket on stage.

In addition to formal coverage, “The Late Show With Stephen Colbert” and “The Daily Show” will travel to Chicago this week to cover the DNC. On the docket: A Kamala Harris biofilm created by “The Daily Show” team and a guest list on “The Late Show” that includes Hillary Clinton and Julia Louis-Dreyfus.
