It's Been A While Since You've Seen These 17 Child Singers, So Here's What They Look Like Then Vs. Now

The Walmart yodeling kid is now the Walmart yodeling teen.

Every once in a while, I fall into an internet rabbit hole of watching old audition videos from singing competition shows. And while I was rewatching some of the classics, I stumbled upon a bunch of the kids who became famous on those shows as well as going viral on YouTube or other parts of social media.

I've honestly watched Connie Talbot's Britain's Got Talent audition so many times throughout the years, I've lost count. (And, yes, there's an update on Connie later in this post.)

So, if you're in the mood for a blast from the past, here's an update on 17 kid singers from the '00s and '10s:

1. Here's Grace VanderWaal when she competed on (and won!) America's Got Talent in 2016 at age 11:

After the show, Grace released her first album Just the Beginning which debuted at No. 22 on the Billboard 200 and toured with acts like Imagine Dragons and Florence + the Machine.

More recently, Grace starred in Disney+'s Stargirl and its sequel Hollywood Stargirl

2. Here's Bianca Ryan when she became the first-ever winner of America's Got Talent in 2006 at age 11:

Bianca's original audition for the show where she sang "And I Am Telling You I'm Not Going," went viral on YouTube at the time. 

And here's Bianca Ryan now at age 28:

Bianca has since returned to compete on America's Got Talent: The Champions and has also been a guest performer on the show. 

3. Here's Rebecca Black when she released "Friday" in 2011 at age 14:

I mean — let's be real — "Friday" was everywhere, and Rebecca was a household name.  Rebecca has been open about the toll her "Friday" fame took on her mental health. 

And here's Rebecca Black now at age 25:

Ever since "Friday," Rebecca has steadily been releasing music — including a 2021 follow up remix of the song. She will also be touring with BLACKPINK this summer. 

4. Here's Jackie Evancho when she competed on America's Got Talent in 2010 at age 10:

Jackie, who's a classically trained opera singer, wowed the judges with her voice and ultimately was the runner up on the show. Her first studio album Dream with Me debuted at No. 2 on the Billboard 200.

Since the show, Jackie has released several albums including 2022's Carousel of Time. She also competed on The Masked Singer in 2020. 

5. Here's Greyson Chance after he rose to fame for his cover of "Paparazzi" by Lady Gaga in 2010 at age 12:

After his cover went viral, Greyson famously appeared on The Ellen Show. Ellen Degeneres even signed him to her record label eleveneleven. Recently, Greyson has been outspoken about his negative experience with Ellen, recalling how "manipulative" and "blatantly opportunistic" she was.

Greyson has been releasing music ever since his "Paparazzi" days — his most recent album was last year's Palladium. He also made his feature film debut in Maybelline Prince

6. Here's Rachel Crow when she competed on The X Factor in 2011 at age 13:

While Rachel came in fifth place on the show, she ended up booking roles on Nickelodeon projects such as Figure It Out, Big Time Rush, and Fred: The Show

Rachel has recently acted and done voice work for shows like The Goldbergs, Schooled, and The Lion Guard

7. Here's Carly Rose Sonenclar when she competed on The X Factor in 2012 at age 13:

She sang "Feeling Good" for her audition and got a standing ovation from all the judges.

Carly released an EP in 2019 and recently shared an updated cover of Karmin's "Brokenhearted," to commemorate 10 years since she performed it on the show. 

8. Here's Josh Levi when he competed on The X Factor in 2013 at age 14:

Josh was a finalist on Season 3 of the show, and then joined the group Citizen Four. He also acted on Nickelodeon shows like The Thundermans and Game Shakers. 

And here he is now at age 24:

Josh provided a voice for Pixar's Turning Red last year — he played Aaron Z in the film's fictional (and AMAZING) boy band, 4*Town.

9. Here's Lennon (here at age 12) and Maisy (here at age 7) Stella in 2012 from their viral cover of "Call Your Girlfriend":

The sisters' cover led them to huge opportunities, including booking roles on Nashville from 2012–2018.

10. Here's Jenna Rose in her "My Jeans" music video from 2010 at age 11:

11. Here's Connie Talbot auditioning for Britain's Got Talent back in 2007 when she was only 6 years old:

Connie blew the judges away with her rendition of "Over the Rainbow" — and she was ultimately the runner up on her season of the show. Her debut album sold over 250k copies.

12. Here's MattyBRaps who went viral for his YouTube videos in 2010 at age 7:

13. Here's Mason Ramsey when he became famous in 2018 after he yodeled in Walmart at age 11:

After his viral yodeling moment, he was signed to a record label and released the single "Famous."

Mason recently teased that he's gearing up to release new music for the first time in years. 

14. Here's Jacob Sartorius when he became famous on Musical.ly in 2016 at age 13:

In addition to his viral fame for his lip-synching videos, Jacob also released a single called "Sweatshirt."

15. Here's Diamond White when she competed on The X Factor in 2012 at age 13:

Diamond wowed the judges with her audition of "It's A Man's Man's Man's World" and ultimately came in 5th place on Season 2 of the show.

Diamond has done a lot of voice work for shows like The Lion Guard and Pinky Malinky. Most recently, Diamond began voicing Lunella Lafayette/Moongirl in Moon Girl and Devil Dinosaur — the role is the first-ever female Black teenage Marvel character.

16. Here's Bea Miller when she appeared on The X Factor at age 13 in 2012:

Bea competed on Season 2 of The X Factor and was quickly signed to Hollywood Records after. She released singles like "Yes Girl" and "Young Blood" and even went on tour with Selena Gomez in 2016.

17. And finally, here's Sophia Grace and Rosie in 2011, after they rose to fame on Ellen:

These girls were EVERYWHERE in 2011 due to their video performing "Super Bass" by Nicki Minaj going viral and their subsequent appearance on The Ellen Show.
