John Krasinski Was Named People's Sexiest Man Alive, And I Think We Need To Have A Serious Conversation About It

I think enough time has passed for me to put on my boxing gloves for all the John Krasinski haters out there.

It's only been a couple of days, btw.

People's coveted "Sexiest Man Alive" title has been awarded to leading men since 1985. Every hunky Hollywood superstar, from Tom Cruise in 1990 and Denzel Washington in 1996 to Matthew McConaughey in 2005 and Ryan Reynolds in 2010, graced the cover. And it always made sense.

Some actors, such as George Clooney, Brad Pitt, Johnny Depp, and Richard Gere, have been awarded more than once.

But, alas, everyone has their particular tastes and fan favorites in Hollywood men, so right around the time social media became ridiculously negative, folks started getting very frank with their opinions of the sexiest man alive selections.

Last year, when Patrick Dempsey was named the winner, he received a lot of mixed reactions as well, probably because the actor hadn't really graced our screens as "McDreamy" from Grey's Anatomy in forever.

Now, in 2024, the director of IF (2024) has been awarded the "sexiest" title, and we're back to debating whether or not People made the right decision. In my honest opinion, THEY DID, and we need to put some serious respect on John's name—full stop.

John told People his reaction to the news was, "Just immediate blackout. Zero thoughts. Other than maybe I'm being punked. That's not how I wake up usually, thinking, 'Is this the day that I'll be asked to be Sexiest Man Alive?' And yet it was the day you guys did it. You really raised the bar for me."

If you're one of the naysayers of the John-aissance, allow me to count the ways that he was, is, and will always be deserving this title, and it will probably just upset you.

Everyone knows the 45-year-old actor rose to fame as Jim Halpert on NBC's popular sitcom The Office, which ran for nine seasons. Aside from Steve Carrell, Jim was probably one of the most recognizable characters in the entire series.

Then there's The Office star's personal life. I would be remiss if I didn't mention one of the best parts of John — his wife, Emily Blunt.

John and Emily have been married for 14 years and have two daughters, Hazel, 10, and Violet, 8.

He deserves the title just off this romance alone.

In addition, his marriage to Emily Blunt also means he's very handsome Stanley Tucci's brother-in-law. Stanley (who played Nigel alongside Emily in Devil Wears Prada) is married to Emily's sister, Felicity Blunt. They've been together since 2012. Just imagine the sexiest of holidays with this family.

Felicity, Emily, and Stanley, along with the young stars of A Quiet Place, Noah Jupe and Millicent Simmonds, are pictured above.

Beyond The Office and his brief stint in romantic comedies, John surprised the heck out of all his thirsty fans (especially me) when he bulked up for Michael Bay's 13 Hours: The Secret Soldiers of Benghazi.

Here's what he looked like in 13 Hours. I need a moment of silence for everyone who is not John in this particular scene.

Ahem.

Speaking of moments of silence, John not only starred in A Quiet Place (2018) but also directed the movie alongside his wife and its sequel, A Quiet Place Part 2.

Being a multi-hyphenate is peak sexy.

And, because my amateur skills in witchcraft never fail me, John kept up that superhero movie-like physique and starred in the Prime Video series as the titular Jack Ryan for four seasons.

It's the versatility for me.

John deserved the title People's "Sexiest Man Alive," and...

I totally get that your faves like Glen Powell, Manny Jacinto, and Pedo Pascal might've been passed up this year (or allegedly rejected), but don't worry—they still have next year.

That's unless Josh Duhamel gets it. Wait, hear me out. I totally feel like it's his time based on the previous selections.
