Jon Bernthal and Pablo Schreiber have joined the limited series adaptation of the Alice Feeney novel “His & Hers” at Netflix, Variety has learned.

The series was first announced in July with Tessa Thompson set for a lead role. Netflix has ordered six episodes. Production is set to begin this fall.

The official description for the series states, “Set in the sweltering heat of Atlanta, Anna (Thompson) lives in haunting reclusivity, fading away from her friends and career as a news anchor. But when she overhears about a murder in Dahlonega – the sleepy town where she grew up – Anna is snapped back to life, pouncing on the case and searching for answers. Detective Jack Harper (Bernthal) is strangely suspicious of her involvement, chasing her into the crosshairs of his own investigation. There are two sides to every story: his & hers, which means someone is always lying.”

Bernthal’s character is further described as “a Sheriff’s Office detective who lost his last job and is now working in his small hometown of Dahlonega, Georgia, where he lives with his sister and niece. He is married to newscaster Anna, but the two are estranged, their relationship complicated by loss and betrayal. Jack is a good man who doesn’t always make good decisions and is deeply troubled by the murder case he’s just picked up.”

News of the role comes just days after Bernthal won his first Emmy Award, scoring the statuette for best guest actor in a comedy series for “The Bear.” Bernthal has also starred in shows like “We Own This City” at HBO, “The Punisher” at Netflix, “American Gigolo” at Showtime, and “The Walking Dead” at AMC. In film, Bernthal is known for features like “Fury,” “The Wolf of Wall Street,” “Shot Caller,” and “King Richard.”

He is repped by CAA, Cognition, and Sloane Offer.

Schreiber will play Richard, said to be “one of the best cameramen at WSK TV News, and he’s also the husband of hot new anchor Lexy Jones, who slid into her position during the recent absence of regular anchor Anna Andrews. Richard is chosen by Anna to be her cameraman when, upon her return, she picks up the story of a murder in Dahlonega as a field reporter.”

Schreiber received an Emmy nomination for best guest actor in a drama series in 2015 for his role in the Netflix series “Orange Is the New Black.” He recently starred in the “Halo” series at Paramount+ and the limited series “Candy” at Hulu, while his past credits include “The Wire” and “American Gods.” He has starred in films like “13 Hours,” “Den of Thieves,” and “Skyscraper.”

He is repped by WME, Circle Management And Production, and Jackoway Austen Tyerman.

William Oldroyd, Dee Johnson, and “Ozark” co-creator Bill Dubuque serve as writers and executive producers on the series, with Oldroyd also set to direct the first episode. Johnson will serve as showrunner. Thompson will also be an executive producer on “His & Hers” under her Viva Maude banner. Kristen Campo of Campout Productions also executive produces along with Jessica Chastain and Kelly Carmichael of Freckle Films and Kishori Rajan for Viva Maude. Fifth Season, where Dubuque is under an overall deal, is the studio.
