No injuries have been reported.
LEESBURG, Va. — An airport in Loudon County has closed after a small plane crash on Wednesday.
According to Virginia State Police, around 2:26 p.m., officers were made aware of the minor crash at the Leesburg Executive Airport.
Investigators claim a small, private plane was coming in for a landing when the aircraft skidded off the runway and into the grass while landing.
Police say neither the pilot nor the passenger onboard was injured in the crash.
The FAA has been notified.
The agency released the following statement in response:
"The left main landing gear of a twin-engine Cessna 421 collapsed after the plane landed at Leesburg Executive Airport in Virginia around 2 p.m. local time on Wednesday, April 5."
The FAA is investigating.
Leesburg Executive Airport closed following the crash.
Police have not said when the airport is expected to reopen.
