ALLEGANY COUNTY, Md. — A man was in custody on Wednesday night for breaking into his ex girlfriend's house with a bomb.
On Wednesday, police arrested Andrew Ervin Romack after Maryland State troopers found a homemade explosive device at his ex's house.
According to police, Romack broke into the woman's house on Monday just after 1 a.m. When officers responded to the 20300 block of Lower Georges Creek Road they arrested Romack and found the homemade explosive device during their search of the home.
Maryland State Police then notified the Office of the State Fire Marshal Bomb Squad. Bomb technicians came out and ran diagnostics on the device. The bomb squad determined they needed to enact render-safe procedures to safely disable the device.
Once the device was safely disabled, members with the bomb squad searched the rest of the home for any other devices. No bombs were found and Romack was arrested.
Police did not say whether or not Romack's ex was inside of the home when he broke in.
Romack was taken to the Allegany County Detention Center. He faces charges of manufacturing and possessing a destructive device, trespassing on private property, fourth-degree burglary, reckless endangerment, and possession of an explosive device with intent charges.
Romack was held without bond.
