A Silver Spring man is being held without bond more than a month after the crash.
TAKOMA PARK, Md. — More than a month after a man was hit and killed by a driver in Takoma Park, the driver has been taken into custody. Detectives with Montgomery County Police announced the arrest on Friday.
The investigation began on June 3, when police say 42-year-old Candido Noe Rojas Rojas was hit and killed by a driver in a black Chevrolet Silverado traveling eastbound on University Boulevard East. After the crash, the Silverado left the scene. Rojas Rojas was taken to the hospital where he was pronounced dead.
Police continued to search for the Chevrolet seen in surveillance images, asking the public for tips.
Eventually, detectives were able to find the truck, and identified 34-year-old Efrain Diaz Romero of Silver Spring as the driver.
Romero has been charged with failure to immediately return and remain at the scene of an accident involving death, and several other traffic related charges. He is being held without bond.
