Benjamin Robertson, 33, was at the DC Central Detention Facility on charges stemming from a deadly crash in July 2023. Officials say while fleeing police he ran through a red light and hit multiple people in a crosswalk, including 75-year-old Bing Wong and a 13-year-old. Wong died from his injuries.

Robertson was indicted in April on charges of second-degree murder of a senior citizen, assault with a dangerous weapon committed against a minor, fleeing a law enforcement officer, tampering with physical evidence, and destroying property.

On Monday, the DC Department of Corrections confirmed that Robertson died while at the DC Central Detention Facility. Upon his death, the US Attorney's Office for the District of Columbia sought abatement of prosecution case against Robertson and the charges were dropped.
