FREDERICK, Md. — A man is in the hospital after deputies in Frederick, Maryland shot him. Right now, there is not much information about the circumstances surrounding the shooting. Here's what we know so far.
According to an interim spokesperson with the Frederick County Sheriff's Office, deputies were called to the scene for a shooting involving an officer around 4 a.m. at 20 Monocacy Boulevard, which is near a Super 8 motel and a Costco.
The spokesperson told WUSA9 that the man shot was taken by helicopter to a Baltimore shock trauma center for treatment of his injuries. His condition is not known at this time.
Authorities have not yet said what led up to the shooting, whether the man shot was armed at the time or how many officers may have fired their weapons.
However, the sheriff's offices spokesperson did say no one else was hurt and no officers were injured. The investigation is still in its early stages, and the sheriff's office promises more information Friday. We will update this story once we get more information.
