TAKOMA PARK, Md. — The Maryland-National Capital Park Police say a man has been exposing himself to women as they jog along the Sligo Creek Trail.

The man has indecently exposed himself or been actively masturbating in front of at least six women who were jogging on the trail alone, according to police.

The suspect has been described as a man who is somewhere between 20 to 30 years old. Police say he has been seen wearing just shorts and a t-shirt or presents shirtless. In three of the incidents, witnesses told police he was wearing a blue bucket hat with “Lilo and Stitch” graphics.

The series of flashing incidents occurred between Sunday, July 14, 2024, and Saturday, August 17, 2024, during the hours of 8 to 10 a.m. and 6 to 9 p.m. on Sligo Creek Trail. The exact locations of the flashings have been on the trail between Carroll and Garland Avenue in Takoma Park.

Police say the joggers were able to scare off the suspect and run away. Officer patrols have been increased in the area.

The Park Police is urging joggers to exercise caution on the trail and to avoid jogging alone whenever possible.
