The suspect then threw the victim's bike onto the tracks, causing a train to crash into it.
WASHINGTON — A man was stabbed multiple times at Metro Center Station on Monday, and the suspect apparently tossed the victim's bike onto the tracks.
Around 12:40 p.m., officers with the Metro Transit Police Department responded to Metro Center for a report of a stabbing.
According to police, the victim and suspect were involved in an altercation. At some point, the suspect pulled out a knife and stabbed the victim multiple times.
After, the suspect threw the victim's bike onto the tracks – causing an incoming train to crash into it.
The victim was taken to an area hospital in critical condition, but police said his injuries weren't life-threatening.
The suspect was detained, and Red Line trains were single-tracking during the investigation. Crews are also working to remove the bike from under the train.
Metro Center is WMATA's busiest train station.
