When the victim tried to walk away, police say the man used a metal pipe to attack the victim.
WASHINGTON — Police are asking for the public's help identifying a man they say assaulted another person with a metal pipe before robbing them last month.
According to the Metropolitan Police Department, the attack happened in the 800 block of G Street, Northwest on July 31.
Officers say shortly before 2:45 a.m., the man walked up to the victim and asked for a cigarette and some money. When the victim tried to walk away, police say the man used a metal pipe to attack the victim.
After the assault, police say the man stole from the victim and ran away.
The victim was later treated by DC Fire and EMS for injuries sustained in the attack.
On Monday evening, police said a nearby surveillance camera captured video of the suspect who appears to be dressed in jeans, sneakers and a Kentucky bourbon t-shirt.

MPD is asking for the community's assistance in identifying a suspect in an Armed Robbery offense that occurred in the 800 block of G Street, Northwest, on 7.31.24.
